Pastoral Care

CHARIS  is a pastoral care service which works to promote well being in children, young people, adults and families consistently drawing on emotional intelligence to unleash potential.

Practitioners
 
Our team is made up of a range of trained professionals who are passionate about caring for other and dedicated to building positive relationships with the people we support. Our team consists of qualified:-

Each practitioner goes through regular DBS checks and receives ongoing training.  Together we take a holistic approach to promoting well-being and progress.

Peer Leadership

Peer Mediation
Children aged 8—11years

 
Our Peer Mediation programme enables children to work together to resolve conflicts while building a sense of self empowerment and exercising a wide range of personal and social skills. Peer Mediation can contribute greatly to the management low level conflicts, minimising disruption, resulting an enhanced learning environment.
Peer Tutoring
 
Our Peer Tutor training provides young people with skills, which can then be adapted and used to support the learning of their peers covering a range of subjects. Through the process of peer tutoring, children and young people develop their speaking and listening skills together with valuable transferable, life long social skills.
    

 

Enrichment Activities

Peer Mediation
Children aged 8—11years

 

A) For six weeks pupils participate in activities which develop leadership skills.
B) For a further six weeks, Peer Leaders put into practice all they have learned and lead the delivery of an after school club.
Outcome: Fully trained and experienced Peer Mentors who can be used to support the learning of others.

Family Support

Family Enrichment Workshops


The purpose of Welfamily Enrichment Workshops is to encourage communication and boost relationships between families and other supporting organisations. Our workshops involve, children, young people and their significant adults participating in curriculum or non curriculum based activities and therapeutic, problem solving activities while enhancing emotional well-being.



Family Support

Family  Cohesion
This programme works to build positive relations between members of families, integrated families and foster families as needed.
 
 
Mentoring Support
We work on building self esteem, while coaching parents/carers helping them to develop necessary skills and confidence in their own abilities. We offer support for families who are supporting a family member who suffers with ill health and those trying to rebuild their lives after events such as divorce or bereavement.
 
 Surviving Domestic Abuse  
CHARIS works with children and families who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse. We adopt mentoring strategies, which develop confidence and self esteem while introducing parents to relevant support agencies.
 
 
Multi Agency Working
We can liaise with a range of agencies and work with them to ensure that families access support needed from the right professionals, at the right time.



Introduction to training and Career Opportunities
We actively encourage parents/carers to explore their skills, abilities, training and career opportunities available to them. We also offer practical supporting applying for training/work, completing forms and preparing for interviews.
 
 
Sign Posting
We take a practical approach to signposting families. This is an effective way of ensuring that families actually access services recommended.
